Ipe Decking
Rich in color, unmatched in durability, and trusted by professionals. We exclusively offer Premium Clear All Heart Ipe—meaning no sapwood and no compromise. This is the material of choice when longevity, stability, and structural integrity matter most.

The Gold Standard in Hardwoods
Ipe (Brazilian Walnut) is the hardest, most dimensionally stable decking wood available. We offer Premium Clear All Heart grade — distinguishing it from standard grades that may include sapwood or off-color boards.
Why Premium Grade Matters:
- No Sapwood: Sapwood is the first part of a board to decay. This ensures maximum lifespan.
- Density & Strength: Naturally resists insects and rot without treatment.
- Fire Rating: Class A (equivalent to concrete/steel).
- Appearance: Deep walnut tone; can be oiled or allowed to weather silver.

Available Profiles
We offer 1×6 and 5/4×6 boards in multiple profiles, each designed for a specific look and function in your deck build.
- Pre-Grooved (Grooved 2 Sides): For hidden clip installation on the main field.
- S4S (Surface 4 Sides): Solid edge, used for face-screwing or plug systems.
- T&G Porch Flooring: For covered porches only. Not recommended for open decks.

Installation Essentials
Ipe is extremely dense and requires the correct hardware for a successful installation. We provide the right tools and accessories to support your build. Installation practices remain the responsibility of the builder.
Recommended System Components:
- End Seal (Ipe Seal): Fresh cuts should be sealed to prevent end-checking.
- Hidden Fasteners: We offer Ipe Clip systems.
- Pro Plug System: For face-screwing solid boards; plugs match the grain for a flush finish.
- Smart-Bit Screws & Tools: Specialized pre-drill and countersink bits designed for dense hardwoods.
Note: Tropical hardwoods require proper ventilation and installation techniques. We recommend working with a contractor experienced in hardwood decking.

Need More Than Deck Boards?
We also offer a full range of Ipe dimensions for railing systems, fascia boards, stair components, and custom details. Whether you’re building a seamless all-Ipe deck or just need Ipe in key structural areas, we can source the right pieces for your project.
Available Sizes Include:
- 2×2: Ideal for balusters and vertical railing components
- 2×4, 2×6, 2×8: Used for top rails, stair treads, or structural accents
- 4×4, 6×6: Posts for railings or pergola columns
- 1×8, 1×12: Fascia boards, skirting, risers, or benches
- Custom Sizes: Available upon request
All dimensions are available in Premium Clear All Heart grade — no sapwood, no compromise — and can be ordered in random lengths or project-specific tallies.

Environmental Responsibility: What You Should Know About Ipe
Ipe comes from the rainforest, and it’s natural for customers to have questions about sustainability. The concerns usually center around illegal logging, old-growth harvesting, and the difficulty of verifying supply chains.
We take those concerns seriously.
How Timberline Ensures Responsible Sourcing
We only partner with long-established importers who follow strict documentation and verification requirements, including:
- Full Chain-of-Custody Tracking
- Lacey Act Compliance for All Shipments
- Third-Party Forest Verification
- IBAMA (Brazilian Environmental Authority) Export Clearance
This means every board we offer is backed with legal harvest documentation and transparent sourcing — no recycled paperwork, no mixed loads, no shortcuts.
Why This Matters
Tropical hardwoods like Ipe are incredibly long-lasting. When sourced responsibly, they offer a lower lifetime environmental impact than many short-lived or petroleum-based alternatives. A properly installed Ipe deck can last 50–75+ years, reducing waste and replacement cycles.
Our Promise
We believe exceptional durability should never come at the expense of environmental responsibility. If you have questions about our sourcing or documentation, we’re happy to walk you through how we ensure the material we offer supports both quality construction and ethical forestry practices.
