Interior Flooring

Solid hardwood flooring remains the benchmark for residential and commercial interiors. Our custom-milled strip flooring is supplied in long, continuous lengths (up to 16 feet), dramatically reducing the number of visual butt joints, lowering installation labor, and providing the uninterrupted, sweeping grain patterns demanded by high-end architectural design.

Unlike mass-manufactured "end-matched" flooring sold by big-box liquidators — which is typically produced in extremely short lengths of 1 to 5 feet, creating a busy, patchwork aesthetic with excessive butt joints — our long-length strip flooring delivers the visual continuity and structural stability that distinguish a premium floor from a commodity product.

Southern Yellow Pine flooring

Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) Flooring

Southern Yellow Pine has been a staple of American flooring for centuries. Its distinctive grain pattern features tight growth rings with a warm amber tone that deepens with age and sunlight exposure. SYP flooring is one of the hardest domestic softwoods with a Janka rating of approximately 870 lbf, placing it well above most other pines and firs.

We carry SYP flooring in 1x4 (3" exposed face) and 1x6 (5" exposed face) tongue-and-groove flooring match profiles. Standard grades include #1 Common (character grade with tight knots) and C & Better (clear to near-clear faces). Lengths range from 6' to 16' in random-length bundles. SYP accepts both oil-based and water-based stains exceptionally well, though it does tend to yellow over time under polyurethane finishes—a quality many homeowners find attractive.

Red Oak Strip Flooring

Red Oak is the most popular hardwood flooring species in North America. It offers a Janka hardness of 1,290 lbf, a prominent cathedral grain pattern, and excellent stainability. Red Oak takes dark stains better than almost any other domestic hardwood, making it ideal for espresso, ebony, and Jacobean color palettes. We supply Red Oak in 3/4" x 2-1/4" and 3/4" x 3-1/4" tongue-and-groove flooring profiles, unfinished, in Select & Better and #1 Common grades.

White Oak Strip Flooring

White Oak has surged in popularity thanks to its compatibility with European-style finishes and fumed (ammonia-darkened) treatments. With a Janka hardness of 1,360 lbf and closed pores (tyloses) that make it naturally water-resistant, White Oak is the preferred species for kitchens, entryways, and high-traffic areas. Its grain is straighter and more subtle than Red Oak, lending itself to minimalist and Scandinavian design styles. Available in 3/4" x 2-1/4", 3/4" x 3-1/4", and 3/4" x 5" widths.

Custom Species Flooring

Beyond our standard stock, we can mill flooring in nearly any species we carry. Hickory delivers dramatic grain variation and a Janka hardness of 1,820 lbf—ideal for active households. American Cherry offers a rich, warm tone that darkens naturally with UV exposure. Walnut provides deep chocolate-brown heartwood with creamy sapwood accents. Custom species flooring is produced on a made-to-order basis with typical lead times of 2–4 weeks.

Species Warning: Eastern White Pine (Janka 380 lbf) is a premier species for paneling, ceilings, and wainscoting, but its inherent cellular softness makes it entirely unsuitable for primary flooring applications. White Pine will dent and degrade rapidly under standard residential foot traffic. For durable softwood flooring, we strictly recommend Southern Yellow Pine (Janka 870 lbf).

Acclimation & Installation

All solid hardwood flooring must be acclimated in the installation space for a minimum of 5–7 days. Moisture content should be within 2% of the subfloor reading before installation begins. We recommend nail-down installation over a plywood subfloor using a pneumatic flooring nailer with 2" cleats at 6–8" intervals. Glue-down installation is appropriate for concrete subfloors when using a moisture-barrier adhesive.
